Accessibility

Our commitment to an inclusive and accessible digital experience for all users.

Last updated: 30 April 2026

Conformance Status

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are actively working to achieve and maintain this standard.

Partially Conformant — AA

1.Our Commitment

Cognitex Consulting is committed to ensuring that our website and digital communications are accessible to all people, including those with disability. We recognise that digital accessibility is not only a matter of good design practice but an obligation under:

  • The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) (“DDA”), which prohibits discrimination against people with disability in the provision of goods, services and facilities, including via the internet.
  • The Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), which provides equivalent protections in Victoria and is administered by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC).
  • The Australian Human Rights Commission's World Wide Web Access: Disability Discrimination Act Advisory Notes, which establish WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the benchmark for accessible web content in Australia.

We view accessibility as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time exercise. We regularly review and improve the accessibility of our website in accordance with our legal obligations and best-practice standards.

2.Accessibility Standards

2.1WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Our website targets conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is organised around four principles:

Perceivable

Information and user interface components must be presented in ways that users can perceive, including through assistive technologies such as screen readers.

Operable

User interface components and navigation must be operable, including by users who rely on keyboard navigation and cannot use a mouse.

Understandable

Information and operation of the user interface must be understandable, with clear language, predictable navigation and error prevention.

Robust

Content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of assistive technologies, both current and future.

2.2Australian Context

Australia does not have a single mandated accessibility standard for private sector websites; however, the Australian Human Rights Commission has recommended WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the applicable standard under the DDA. In Victoria, the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) reinforces these obligations. Cognitex Consulting adopts WCAG 2.1 AA as our baseline and continues to monitor developments toward WCAG 2.2 adoption.

3.Accessibility Features

This website has been designed and developed with the following accessibility features:

3.1Visual Design

  • Colour contrast ratios of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, consistent with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.3.
  • Text is resizable up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • The site does not rely on colour alone to convey information.
  • Focus indicators are visible for all interactive elements to support keyboard navigation.

3.2Navigation and Structure

  • Semantic HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists) are used to convey page structure.
  • All pages include a descriptive page title.
  • Navigation menus are consistent across pages.
  • Users can skip to main content using keyboard navigation.
  • The page language is declared in HTML to support screen reader pronunciation.

3.3Images and Media

  • All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text.
  • Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes so they are ignored by screen readers.
  • No content relies solely on the perception of shape, colour, size or visual location.

3.4Forms and Interaction

  • All form fields include visible labels and accessible name attributes.
  • Error messages are descriptive and associated with the relevant input field.
  • Interactive elements are keyboard accessible and operate without requiring a mouse.
  • Sufficient time is provided for users to complete and submit forms.

4.Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we are aware of the following current limitations that we are actively working to address:

AreaStatus
Third-party embedded contentSome third-party tools and integrations may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are reviewing alternatives.
PDF documentsCertain documents may not be fully accessible. Accessible alternatives available on request.
Older contentSome legacy content sections are undergoing remediation to improve heading structure and contrast.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed above, please let us know using the contact details in section 6. We will prioritise addressing reported issues.
